About us Juristforeningen was established in Bergen in 1949, and has worked towards offering law students at the University of Bergen a broad range of quality activities for 60 years. Today, Juristforeningen has around 2500 members; many of these are active in one of our subgroups according to their personal interests. Membership is valid for life, and thus, Juristforeningen is constantly growing. We have many different subgroups, divided into academic, sports/recreational and social groups, who all arrange an array of student activities. Rowing, skiing and ball games, participation in student democracy and academics (Fagstyret), groups for events like Arbeidslivsdagen (career fair), the law faculty show, and running our pub – Fjøsen – are just some of the activities fueled by student initiatives. We hope to offer something for everyone! Uniting law students Juristforeningen is one of the first and most important organisations you will encounter as a new law student in Bergen. Through Fadderdagsuken (Introductory Week), new students are introduced to the social part of Juristforeningen. From there on, Juristforeningen becomes an important part of many law students’ identity, creating a strong sense of unity through the arranging of different events as well as everyday social contact. This is seen in the large numbers of people who attend our events, and the strong sense of involvement of students in our community. Erasmus students: Become a member of Juristforeningen! Juristforeningen offers temporary membership for students who attend the faculty for a year or less. Stop by our office, and we’ll set you up with a membership at a reduced price (100 NOK), which will make you entitled to a membership card and all benefits of being a member of Juristforeningen.
